Description

Antique English Staffordshire drabware pitcher made by W. Ridgway & Co. This grand pitcher probably dates to the 1820s. It is highly decorated with relief moulded designs. The designs was probably a salute to Bacchus - the Greek & Roman god of wine and revelry. The decorations include 4 likenesses of Bacchus, swirls of grapevines and clusters of grapes. The handle is moulded in human form. This pitcher measures approx. 8 3/4" tall and 6 1/2" wide at the widest point including the handle. There is a small hairline that is very hard to see at the top of the handle where it joines the pitcher. It still looks and feels sound. This pitcher is priced accordingly.
